Liverpool could land top-class Teixeira alternative today for £19m (not Cheryshev)

Inter Milan are ready to see long-term Liverpool target Mauro Icardi before tonight’s transfer deadline if an offer of £19m is received, according to reports from Sport Mediaset.

The Argentine striker has been linked with the Reds on a number of occasions over the course of the past few years.

As far back as 2014 Icardi was a target amid speculation that Luis Suarez was set to leave the club, while speculation last summer suggested that he was being considered on Merseyside.

And now reports claim that Liverpool could secure a move for him today, if they match Inter’s £19m asking price.

The 22-year-old San Siro captain is understood to have fallen out with manager Roberto Mancini, leaving the door open for a transfer.

Icardi has a stellar reputation as a goalscorer in Serie A, having netted 49 goals in his last three-and-a-half league campaigns with Inter and Sampdoria.
