Liverpool decide against January striker signing

Liverpool have decided not to bring recall Divock Origi from his loan sell at Lille this month, as reported by the Daily Star.

Brendan Rodgers paid £10million for the Belgium international after he impressed at the World Cup in the Brazil last summer, but immediately sent him back on loan to French outfit Lille.

And despite discussions to bring him back to Anfield this month, Rodgers has decided to keep faith in his current strikers at the club.

The Reds saw Fabio Borini and Rickie Lambert both score in the 2-0 victory at Aston Villa on Saturday, while Daniel Sturridge is back in training after spending the majority of the season sidelined with a thigh injury.

Origi looked set to arrive at Liverpool this month after a ‘premium fee’ was agreed with Lille to cut his loan spell short.

But since Jordan Ibe was recalled from his loan spell at Derby County and Sturridge edging closer to full fitness, Rodgers appears to have decided to wait until the summer before adding Origi to the squad.

Origi is has scored four goals in 16 outings for Lille this term.
