Liverpool star Jose Enrique has been released from his contract despite having another one month left on his current £65,000-a-week deal, Liverpool Echo reports.
The 30-year-old was told by the club that he didn’t need to attend training any more and should start looking for a new team to play with heading into the summer.
He struggled to hold down a regular role under manager Jurgen Klopp and is believed to have already said goodbye to his team-mates before his departure.
The left-back has been unable to overtake first-choice man Alberto Moreno in the position, with the club overlooking his services as they aim to reinforce their defence in the summer.
He last featured back in January and has not been included in the matchday squad since February, a factor that eventually led to his exit.
Enrique, who spent five years at Anfield, failed to register a single Premier League appearance this term, featuring only three times in the FA Cup.
