Liverpool defender told he’s free to Leave

Liverpool defender Glen Johnson has been told by the club that he’s free to leave in the summer according to the Mirror.

The England international’s contract is due to expire in the summer  and club and player are yet to agree on a new deal.

Johnson’s agent is believed to be busy sounding out potential moves for the right-back, with Galatasaray currently looking like the most likely destination. 

However, any deal for the for the 30-year-old is likely to stumble over Johnson’s £120,000-a-week wage demands.

Johnson is seen as surplus to requirements at Anfield with summer signing Javier Manquillo seen as the future of the club at right-back.

It’s understood that Johnson will have to accept a significant pay cut wherever his next destination.

Glen Johnson has made 145 Premier League appearance for Liverpool to date and has over 50 England caps to his name.
