Liverpool remain keen to land Empoli star man Riccardo Saponara despite the club insisting he is not for sale, report the Daily Express.
The 23-year old is said to be a £10.5m target for Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, who is heading into his first transfer market at the Anfield helm.
It is believed that the German views Saponara as ideal competition for Philippe Coutinho, as he can operate either as a centre midfielder, or a more advanced role behind a striker.
The playmaker left Serie A giants AC Milan in January as he struggled to break the first-team at the San Siro, but has flourished since moving to Tuscany.
Netting 11 goals since his move, the former Italian Under-21 international has reportedly also attracted interest from the likes of Juventus and Roma.
Empoli sporting director Marcello Carli last month stated, ‘No one will move in January.’
‘We’ll keep all our players’
Italian newspaper La Nazione suggests that the Merseyside giants are determined to push through a deal this winter, though they concede it may be difficult to do.
