Liverpool emerged victorious in an all-Premier League battle in the EFL Cup last night, defeating Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 in an entertaining tie.
The fixture sees last season’s runners-up in the tournament march through to the quarter-finals and puts Jurgen Klopp’s side just three wins away from another Wembley appearance.
Liverpool’s win continued a solid run of form for the Reds, who pulled level at the top of the Premier League standings with their victory over West Brom at the weekend, and the result clearly made two members of their squad thrilled.

Mignolet has lost his first-team place at Liverpool this season but put in a fine performance last night, giving Klopp something to think about in the coming games, whilst Firmino did not feature as he was rested but still took the time to celebrate two-goal hero Daniel Sturridge.
Liverpool will know have their eyes cast on this evening’s draw for the next round, which takes place after the match between Manchester United and Manchester City, but Klopp’s side will fancy their chances whatever the opposition.
