Liverpool enter negotiations to beat Arsenal to Mustafi transfer, Reds have major advantage

Liverpool have entered negotiations with Valencia for the signature of Arsenal-linked defender Shkodran Mustafi, according to Cadena SER.

The German’s future has dominated headlines in recent weeks, with the Gunners understood to be closing in on him.

However, the proposed deal has stalled, and with the transfer deadline just two weeks away there are doubts surrounding Mustafi actually moving from Valencia to Arsenal.

Los Che director Garcia Pitarch has already confirmed that the Mestalla club need to sell to balance the books amid speculation about their 24-year-old ace, and now Cadena SER have claimed that Liverpool have entered talks regarding a move for him.

Although the Merseysiders cannot offer Champions League football, they seem to hold a big advantage over Arsenal in that Valencia are interested in taking forgotten midfielder Luis Alberto as part of any deal.

The Spanish playmaker shone in La Liga last term while on loan at Deportivo La Coruna.
