Liverpool Expert gives big update on two reported transfer incomings

Liverpool are not interested in Gary Medel or Shkodran Mustafi, according to Liverpool Echo reporter James Pearce.

The Reds have enjoyed a fine summer in terms of recruitment, with six new faces have been welcomed at Anfield.

Three of these players – Ragnar Klavan, Georginio Wijnalum and Sadio Mane – started the opening weekend win at Arsenal, with only injury keeping Joel Matip and Loris Karius from featuring, while Alex Manninger stayed on the bench for the 90 minutes.

However, there has been much talk of a seventh addition at Liverpool, with Valencia’s Mustafi and Medel of Inter Milan both reported targets over the course of the past few days.

However, the Liverpool Echo’s club reporter, Pearce, has taken to Twitter to reveal that the Reds are not after either player:

He tweeted: “Told there’s no truth in reports #LFC are trying to sign Shkodran Mustafi from Valencia. Had been talk of offering Luis Alberto plus cash.

“The stuff about Gary Medel belongs in the same rumour mill bin as Mustafi.”

Mustafi, a centre-back, could have provided extra cover for the injured Mamdou Sakho, while Medel, a defensive midfielder, may have been an option to shield Jurgen Klopp’s backline.
