Liverpool eye Championship keeper

Liverpool are chasing Nottingham Forest’s Karl Darlow following Simon Mignolet’s recent dip in form, according to reports from The Mirror.

The Belgian stopper made a fine start to life at Anfield following his summer arrival from Sunderland, but has struggled in the Reds’ net of late.

Mignolet was partly to blame for Aston Villa’s second goal during Saturday’s 2-2 draw, and has also made a series of other costly errors including one at the Etihad Stadium against Manchester City.

Although Brendan Rodgers is ready to stick by his keeper, he is keen to bring in a talented alternative to challenge him for a starting berth.

Current back-up man Brad Jones is not seen as capable enough to do so, and now Darlow has emerged as an option.

The Forest glovesman has been in excellent form this term, attracting attention from a number of top tier sides.

Liverpool are thought to have had scouts watching the 22-year-old of late, fuelling speculation of an imminent bid.

Wigan’s Lee Nicholls is also another option, but it is believed that Darlow is seen as a better long-term addition that the Latics ace.
