Despite spending in excess of £100m over the summer, the Northern Irishman is expected to delve back into the transfer market in 2015, with life after Luis Suarez proving more difficult than expected.
Rickie Lambert and Mario Balotelli both arrived to back-up Daniel Sturridge in the Reds’ attack, yet the current crop of Anfield strikers have notched a meagre two goals combined in all competitions so far this term.
As a result Firmino and Volland have caught Rodgers’ eye.
The pair were in excellent for last term for Hoffenheim, with the former in particular having impressed.
Brazilian playmaker Firmino attracted Liverpool, among others, during the summer after notching an impressive 16 goals and 11 assists in 33 league outings.
Volland also grabbed the headlines during 2013/14, finding the net nine times while earning a first senior German cap.
The pair are under contract until 2017 and Hoffenheim are rumoured to be desperate to keep them.
