Liverpool have made Sevilla’s Kevin Gameiro their prime £10m transfer target with a deal for Burnley’s Danny Ings before the looming transfer deadline looking unlikely, according to reports from the Daily Star.
The Reds have been chasing the Burnley ace who, after a day of rumours, looks set to be staying at Turf Moor until at least the end of the season, for much of the last month.
Ings had been a target for the Merseysiders as Brendan Rodgers looked to bolster his attacking options following Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert’s struggles, yet a £4m offer was rejected last week.
And now the Anfield giants have settled on an alternative in the shape of Gameiro, although they don’t have long to push through an agreement.
The Frenchman currently plays for Sevilla, but his game time has been limited by the presence of Carlos Bacca.
Liverpool were linked with a move for Gameiro’s signature in 2013 while he was at PSG.
The 27-year-old hit an impressive 15 goals for his current side last season and is known for his finishing ability.
