The Reds boss is desperate to add attacking reinforcements to boost his side’s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League.
Liverpool boosted their top four ambitions further last night, with a resounding 4-0 victory over local rivals Everton in the 222nd Merseyside derby.
A Steven Gerrard header, two goals from Daniel Sturridge – who also missed the chance for a hat trick from the penalty spot – and a Luis Suarez strike saw the Reds go four points clear of their rivals from across Stanley Park.
And despite being left frustrated in his attempts to bolster his injury hit squad so far, Rodgers is hopeful there will be a significant arrival before Friday’s deadline.
“I think we will hopefully do something over the next couple of days,” Rodgers said.
“I saw some headlines after yesterday’s press conference in terms of the manager being angry with the club – nothing is further from the truth.
“We are not just going to get the players we want to get in for a number of reasons.
“Hopefully we can have a major signing before the window shuts and if we can do that we will be set up for the remaining games.”
