Liverpool eye out-of-favour Spanish hit-man

Adrian Lopez (Atletico Madrid)Liverpool are planning a January move for Atletico Madrid outcast Adrian Lopez, according to reports from the Daily Star.

The 25-year-old has seen his first-team role in the Spanish capital diluted this term due to the arrival of David Villa and the impressive form of Diego Costa.

As a result, he is believed to be ready to leave the Vicente Calderon this winter.

This has alerted Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers, who is keen to bolster his attacking options.

The Reds chief currently has, arguably, the best striker pairing in the Premier League in Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge, but is aware that he has little backup to the razor-sharp double act.

Rodgers sees Adrian as a good source of support for the Anglo-Uruguayan pair, and one that would be cost-effective at £8m.

Everton and Newcastle are also keen, but it is thought that a switch to Anfield may be desirable to the two-time Spanish international.

Although there is also interest from other La Liga sides, a source claims that Adrian is keen to test his skills in another country, with the Premier League his desired option:

“England will be his preferred destination.”

Adrian was linked with a summer away from Atletico, but no suitors were willing to meet his £12m price tag.
