Liverpool are considering a move to invite USA international full-back DeAndre Yedlin over to Merseyside for a pre-season trial, according to reports from The Metro.
The 20-year-old – who currently plies his trade in the MLS with the Seattle Sounders – is one of American soccer’s most highly rated young players, and impressed at the World Cup.
An assist during a group game against Portugal and a fine showing in the last 16 loss to Belgium have alerted Liverpool, who are now pondering a move for the starlet.
Scouts from the Reds were watching Yedlin prior to events in recent weeks, and now appear to be convinced that he could have something to offer at Anfield.
But before a full move is launched, they would like the defender to travel over to England for a trial during the club’s pre-season.
The player himself is likely to jump at the chance, but the Sounders may be less willing to grant one of their prize assets permission to travel away.
Yedlin can play on the right or left side of the backline, as well as in a more advanced position on the wing.
