Liverpool eyeing bizarre move for controversial attacker

Liverpool have been impressed by Hatem Ben Arfa’s rejuvenated form at Nice and are keeping a close eye on him ahead of the summer transfer window, according to reports from Le 10 Sport.

The former Newcastle man appears to have revived his faltering career back in his homeland with the Mediterranean side, netting 11 goals in Ligue 1, and a further one in the Coupe de France, this season.

Although a talent, Ben Arfa’s application and work ethic have often been questioned, but reports claim that Liverpool are interested in the 28-year-old.

With the 15-cap France international having only signed a one-year deal with Nice ahead of the current season after spending six months unable to play for another side due to registration issues – he’d already played for Newcastle and Hull in 2014/15, filling the two-teams-per-season maximum quota – he’s in line to be available on a free transfer, which has alerted Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Milan, AC Milan and Dortmund, as well as Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Ben Arfa is known for his ability on the ball and prowess in the final third, yet his playing style does not appear suited to the Merseysiders’ high-tempo, pressing orientated approach.
