According to talkSPORT, Liverpool are interested in signing Ryan Fraser from Bournemouth.

What's the story?

The 25-year-old was impressive for Bournemouth last season, but he has less than a year left on his contract.

If no deal is sorted out before the January transfer window, the Scotland international will be able to speak to certain clubs in regards to a pre-contract agreement.

In a bid to make some money from Fraser, it is being said that the Cherries could be willing to let him go for £10m to £15m.

The south coast side may even try to secure Harry Wilson on a permanent basis as part of the former Aberdeen winger's move to Merseyside.

One-season wonder

Fraser had a magnificent season last time out at Dean Court. He scored eight times in all competitions, whilst he also managed to provide 15 assists. The 14 strikes he created in the Premier League alone were bettered only by Eden Hazard, who now plies his trade with Real Madrid.

That is the kind of company he kept in the previous campaign.

However, so far this term, he has failed to hit the same heights. In the first 11 league matches, he has just one goal and two assists, and that has contributed to Eddie Howe's side's troubles in front of goal - they recently went through a three-game goal drought and have netted just 15 times in the first 12 matches of the season.

Such is the difference in form, questions can be asked as to whether he is a one-season wonder.

£10m to £15m is not exactly a lot of money to spend on a player in today's current transfer market, but it makes no sense at all if 13-time Wales international Wilson is used in any deal.

The former Derby County loanee's form has dropped in recent weeks - he has scored just one in his last six Premier League games this term compared to three in his first five - but his overall play has been superior to Fraser's, with the 22-year-old averaging a WhoScored rating of 6.71 compared to 6.61 in the league.

It would make far more sense to bring Wilson back and play him as the first rotation option for the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

In terms of Fraser, it is a deal that Jurgen Klopp and co should avoid at all costs if it forces Wilson to move in the opposite direction.
