Liverpool eyeing in-form winger with more La Liga goals than Messi & Bale this season

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is keen on red-hot Deportivo La Coruna winger Lucas Perez as he plots a summer overhaul at Anfield, according to reports from Corriere dello Sport.

The 27-year-old star has been in electric form this season for the midtable Galicians, notching 14 La Liga goals, putting him ahead of established names such as Lionel Messi and Gareth Bale in the division’s scoring charts.

And it seems these performances may be enough to earn Perez a move to Liverpool at the end of the season, with reports claiming that Klopp has been impressed by the player.

The former Atletico Madrid youngster has endured a nomadic career, in which he’s moved from his Spanish homeland to Ukraine and Greece, but he seems to have found his feet at the Riazor, where he’s been playing alongside Anfield loanee Luis Alberto this term.

Klopp is understood to have been promised an ‘ambitious’ squad for his first full season in charge of Merseyside club, suggesting that he’ll delve into the transfer market in a few months’ time after adding only Steven Caulker and Marko Grujic to his ranks over the winter – the latter is back at Red Star Belgrade on loan for the remainder of 2015/16.
