Liverpool eyeing one of Europe’s top young midfielders, he has £25.5m release clause

Liverpool are considering a move for Schalke’s highly-rated attacking midfielder Max Meyer, according to reports from Bild.

The 20-year-old is considered to be one of the best young players in his position in Europe and is already a first-team regular for the Gelsenkirchen side despite his age.

Meyer netted five goals in Bundesliga action last term and has weighed in with a further two so far this time around, which has, according to reports, piqued the Reds’ interest.

Kop chief Jurgen Klopp is known to have a good knowledge of German football following his successful spell in charge of Dortmund, and is sure to be aware of the starlet’s abilities after witnessing him first hand on a few occasions.

Meyer has been capped once at senior international level and was part of Germany’s initial 30-man provisional squad for the 2014 World Cup.
