Liverpool fans are once again convinced they are going to sign Matthijs de Ligt, after reports in France claimed it is between the Reds and Barcelona for the Dutchman’s signature.
According to L’Equipe, via GFFN, Arsenal want to sign Samuel Umtiti, which could lead to Barcelona splashing out on de Ligt.
The French outlet listed one other competitor for the Ajax starlet though, claiming Liverpool are battling the Catalan giants for the youngster.
Former Wigan & Fulham man, Jimmy Bullard recently showed that he’s still got it! Check out the video below…
This comes just days after James Pearce of The Liverpool Echo claimed the club has no plans to pursue de Ligt this summer.
But Liverpool fans have been here before, and plenty of them are convinced the move for de Ligt is on despite the Echo’s insistence that they are not even trying to sign the hottest defensive prospect on the market.
The Anfield faithful have been here before – Sky Sports claimed Naby Keita would absolutely not be sold before he joined the Reds, and they also claimed Alisson Becker was not even a target shortly before he penned a world-record deal with the club.
Reds fans have therefore learned to trust sources on the continent over those at home, and the Twitter reactions down below are convinced that de Ligt, who is valued at £63m by Transfermarkt, will be yet another who slipped through the local media’s net…
The foreign sources were determined to say we were in for Alisson and Keita, when the locals said we weren't, yeah?

I’m convinced we’re still interested in the lad. Local journos will have been fobbed off. The last thing we want is for Matip or Gomez to feel threatened by a new signing before the CL final.

They also said we were going after Butland and wasn’t interested in Alisson….

What have we learned from last summer Matt? Local Journos don’t know anything at the moment.

Remember when we dropped all interest in Van Dijk?

Defo legs in this, LFC trying to keep a lid on interest prior to final, agent could use United interest if just trying to get more money from Barca
