Liverpool's winning run of games in all competitions stopped at seven on Tuesday night as the club were beaten by Chelsea in the third round of the EFL Cup.

Jurgen Klopp made a handful of alterations to the team, with the likes of Dejan Lovren, Joel Matip, Fabinho and Alberto Moreno starting.

Daniel Sturridge opened the scoring for the Reds just before the hour-mark, but they were unable to maintain their lead and ended up losing 2-1.

The equaliser came from Emerson and the winning goal was scored by Eden Hazard in the 86th minute.

Many Liverpool fans took issue with the equalising goal due to the argument that Ross Barkley was offside when his header was saved by Simon Mignolet.

The midfielder latched onto the ball from a free-kick, and his saved effort was then tapped in by Emerson on the rebound.

VAR was used, but decided that Barkley was not offside when the ball was played.

Some Liverpool fans were left baffled by the decision, and others argued that Alvaro Morata should have been flagged offside for interfering with play.

A few also believe that the free kick should not have even been given for a foul on Victor Moses by Naby Keita.

Fans aired their frustrations on Reddit.
