Liverpool suffered their first defeat of the 2018-19 Premier League season on Thursday night as they went down 2-1 at champions Manchester City.
The Reds still have a four-point lead at the top of the table, but it would have been a very healthy 10 had they managed to overcome City at the Etihad Stadium.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp took the decision to start captain Jordan Henderson, despite Fabinho’s excellent form in recent weeks.
Henderson struggled to make his mark against the Citizens and it would be fair to say that the Liverpool supporters were not pleased with his performance.
Indeed, after the match, a number of the club’s fans took to social media to urge Klopp to get rid of the Englishman, who is on £100k a week at Anfield.
Henderson has made over 300 appearances for Liverpool since a 2011 move from Sunderland, but he has not been in the best of form this season.
A selection of the Twitter reaction from the Liverpool fans can be seen below:
Wouldn’t mind not seeing Henderson play again full stop

I am sick of saying this but I just don’t know what Henderson brings to the team. He even looked scared in the tunnel and completely disappeared in that match. Even neutral fans can see it.

Henderson was poor again

Klopp cannot keep Henderson on the field and expect to win such a game. It’s like he’s scared to sub him from games. #LFC

please sell lovren and henderson then buy koulibaly for good sake and if you want to win the title. you should realize midfield is dead without fabinho and shaqiri. bring gomez asap. in addition, if you bring timo werner would be bit mad @LFC @JamesPearceEcho #Liverpool
