Nowadays most Premier League clubs spend big money on ready-made talent, which makes it harder for youth players to find a way through.
However, when a star is spotted among the inexperienced crowd, it is vital for clubs to hold on, and that is exactly what Liverpool have done with Rhian Brewster.
The 18-year-old striker joined the Merseyside outfit’s academy from Chelsea in 2014 and has gone from strength to strength.
The youngster caught the eye last year while representing England at the Under-17 World Cup as he nabbed the Golden Boot with eight goals and also took home a winners’ medal.
There were rumblings in the early stages of last season that Brewster could earn his first-team debut under Jurgen Klopp, but an ankle injury in January ruled him out for the rest of the campaign.
The teenager has now decided to commit his future to the Reds by signing a long-term contract, and the fans could not be happier.
