There was a sense of togetherness during the World Cup when England reached the semi-finals, but now that the domestic season is back, so are the rivalries between clubs.
This spills over into international breaks, and on Sunday when the Three Lions took on Croatia in the Nations League, some Liverpool fans took aim at Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Eric Dier.
Manager Gareth Southgate selected the 24-year-old to start due to Jordan Henderson’s absence with an injury.
Dier lined up in a midfield three with Ross Barkley and Fabian Delph, and he played the full 90 minutes in what turned into a late 2-1 victory for England.
The Tottenham ace has had his critics over the last couple of seasons as he flitted to and from a defensive midfield position to a spot in the backline.
Against Croatia, plenty of Liverpool fans had a close eye on Dier given that he was the next in line after Henderson was ruled out of action.

Judging by the reaction on Twitter, not many were impressed by the Tottenham star’s performance.
I’m not trying to hate but Eric Dier is so overrated. I just don’t see all the hype
