When things are not going well at a football club, a lot of the time fans turn on the owners.
Some Liverpool supporters went through a spell of spewing hatred at John Henry, who fronts Fenway Sports Group – the club’s owners.
Unsurprisingly, most of the anger was related to failures to land certain transfer targets, and some have even called for the American businessman and FSG to walk away from the Reds.
At the moment, though, everything is rosy in the garden as the Merseyside outfit are preparing for Saturday’s Champions League final against Real Madrid in Kiev.
Ahead of the showpiece, Henry, who also owns American baseball team the Boston Red Sox, spoke extensively to AP, admitting that he had a “difficult time understanding” why anyone would want to leave Liverpool.
During his ownership, Henry has witnessed some big players departing from the Anfield gates, including Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho.
Manager Jurgen Klopp has some more stars at his disposal, including Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino, and many fans will be hoping that the pair stay put for the long term.
After reading through Henry’s article, Liverpool fans were full of praise for the businessman.
