Loads of Liverpool fans have been running the rule over Tuesday’s setback in Belgrade, and they’re not too happy with the performance of James Milner.
Liverpool fell to a 2-0 defeat against Red Star Belgrade on Tuesday, and the Reds now face a real battle to progress from their Champions League group.
Jurgen Klopp’s side still share the top of the table with Napoli, but will likely have to take a positive result from at least one of their final two matches, perhaps even both.

The Reds came out completely flat in the first half, and pretty much all of the fans’ blame is going on the midfield.
Adam Lallana is taking loads of stick, and fans are equally disappointed with Milner after his positive start to the season.
The versatile 32 year-old was sensational at the end of the last campaign and beginning of this one, but his form has dipped since he picked up a hamstring injury.
You can find some of the best Twitter reactions down below, look away now James…
Milner is one of my favourite personalities at the club, but people forget that he was brought in for depth and not to be featuring in our starting XI this often. Lacks creativity. Workhorse, excellent squad player, but nothing more. Wouldn't start for any other top six side.

I’m not saying that he hasn’t been absolutely fantastic for us in recent times, but in the last few weeks James Milner’s performances have really gone downhill.

You don’t have to sugarcoat it man, the guy is great for grafting and efficiency but keeping the ball under pressure is not his thing, that’s why he couldn’t make it CM at City

He has 0 ability to pick a pass or beat a man
Our midfield is awful at present slow predictable. I got dogs abuse in august when I said we needed fekir or an alternative to fekir. But I still stand by it

Our worst midfielder today imo.

He was brilliant first few games, then his legs seem to have gone. Whole midfield has been terrible today though, far too slow at moving he ball, no one willing to run with the ball and no creativity.

Two seasons ago he was playing left back, now he’s the mainstay in midfield, that to me says we have gone backwards in terms of quality. Fantastic addition to the squad but, should be a squad player at best.

Have been saying this for almost a year but ended up being told he scored against arsenal, he runs 13km a game nonsense but wn I asked those Milner fanatics what he offers on the ball the silence is telling
