When Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane are leading the way in an attacking lineup, it is difficult to see a way through for any fringe players.
That is the current situation for Divock Origi and Dominic Solanke at Liverpool, as both strikers look set for another season on the sidelines if they stay at Anfield.
Both are with Jurgen Klopp’s squad on a pre-season tour of the United States, and the pair featured in Sunday’s friendly with Borussia Dortmund.
Last season, Origi spent the campaign on loan at Wolfsburg after dropping down the pecking order at Anfield.
Meanwhile, Solanke made 21 Premier League appearances for the Reds, but only five of them were starts.
It would not be a huge surprise if both attackers were deliberating their futures, particularly as they also have Daniel Sturridge to contend with in a battle for places.
After watching the pair in action against Dortmund, some Liverpool fans discussed on Twitter what the duo’s next steps should be.
I think it’s a bad idea going into the season with Origi, Stu and Solanke. I think we need a decent cover for Firmino. Stu is class on his day but you know he will get injured. While Origi and Solanke does not feel me with confidence.

Can’t see a place for either of them, shame as had high hopes with both of then, unfortunately they simply ain’t good enough.

Dom needs a loan without a doubt. Origi looks like a different player since coming back, and not in a good way either.

Solankie shows something, just not sure it’s enough 👎 origi just shocking IMO

Solanke, origi and Sturridge need to go. If we are a club who are serious about winning the title then we need to have players than can make a difference. These 3 make games easier for the opposition.

Neither of them are good enough for Liverpool. It’s as simple as that. Not sure loans are worthwhile. Think they should both be sold and we’ll make some money from them to put into another, better forward. Ings is going too

Better to rely on Sturridge to be fit than either origi or solanke coming off the bench to score
