The summer transfer window tends to throw up some bizarre links, and one that has taken everyone by surprise is Everton's alleged interest in Bordeaux star Malcom.

On Tuesday, Sky Sports News reporter Kaveh Solhekol tweeted that the Merseyside outfit are in advanced talks with the winger regarding a £30m switch.

The journalist added that Everton have offered the 21-year-old a five-year contract worth £80,000 per week.

It would be a huge coup if Marco Silva was able to get a deal over the line for the Toffees, particularly as Malcom has been linked to Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.

Everton's Merseyside rivals Liverpool recently acquired a new winger in the form of Xherdan Shaqiri from Stoke City, but after hearing this latest news about the Toffees, some fans think that their club pursued the wrong wide man.

Others have given credit to Everton for making an audacious move, while some Liverpool supporters have played down the potential signing.
