One of the heroes of Liverpool’s remarkable Champions League comeback against Barcelona last season, Georginio Wijnaldum really does have a welcome knack of getting big goals in big games.
The 28-year-old was at it again on Friday night, but this time he delivered the goods for the Netherlands. In a heavyweight clash with Germany, the midfielder bagged a goal and an assist to help his country to an impressive 4-2 win in Hamburg.
After seeing the former Newcastle ace star for the Netherlands, Liverpool fans flooded to Twitter to hail the Dutchman’s fine performance.
Many supporters of the Merseyside club insisted Wijnaldum simply doesn’t get the credit he deserves, and that he is “criminally under-rated”.
Some Reds fans called him a “baller” and “world-class”, with one in particular praising his desire to keep running and fighting for the cause.
Check out some of the reaction of Liverpool fans below:
Gini Wijnaldum is just world class! Never stopps running and fighting + awesome technique! #GERNED #lfc

Gini Wijnaldum is criminally underrated. Man produces on the big stage when club or country needs him. Should be in the FifPro XI ahead of several frauds. Hth.

Georginio Wijnaldum is a world class player. He thrives in a more attacking role for Netherlands but he’s just as good playing as the link for Liverpool. The guy just doesn’t get the credit and recognition he deserves. #LFC

Gini Wijnaldum is genuinely one of the most under appreciated midfielders in the premier league. He is quality.
