Liverpool announced on Monday that teenage midfielder Jake Cain had signed his first professional contract with the Merseyside giants.

And it would be fair to say that the news has been well received by the club's fans.

Cain, who only turned 18 at the start of September, has been in fine form for Liverpool's Under-18s in the early stages of the 2019/20 campaign.

Indeed, the youngster has scored twice and registered four assists in four outings in the Under-18 Premier League this term.

The Wigan-born ace has been with the Reds since the age of nine, and Liverpool's official website point out that he made his debut as an Under-16 player under Steven Gerrard.
