Usually, the men behind the scenes at football clubs come under intense scrutiny, and some have a difficult relationship with the fans.

At Liverpool, though, there is one man who is adored by the Merseyside outfit's following, and that is sporting director Michael Edwards.

He took the role in 2016 and has since played a huge role in bringing top players to Anfield, including Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and goalkeeper Alisson.

Now, it has been reported by The Times journalist Paul Joyce that Edwards struck an agreement with Barcelona during the sale of Philippe Coutinho.

It is believed that if the Catalan giants want to sign another Liverpool before 2020, they will have to pay a premium of €100m on top of a fee.

Barcelona have poached a few of the Reds' key players, and the likes of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Salah are regularly linked with moves to Spain.

Unsurprisingly, plenty of Liverpool fans are delighted with this reported clause.
