Liverpool were held to a goalless draw away to Everton in the English Premier League on Saturday, failing to hit the heights they reached against Manchester City mid-week.
It was a perhaps a performance to be expected in the middle of their UEFA Champions League tie against Pep Guardiola’s outfit, especially since Jurgen Klopp made five changes to the side for the derby clash.
However, it was still a frustrating day for supporters, who were hoping for a big three points to strengthen their bid to finish in the top four come the end of the season.
One player’s performance fans took particular exception with was Dominic Solanke’s.
The 20-year-old was ineffective in attack throughout the 90 minutes, missing any chance that did come his way.
It was a massive opportunity for the player who made just his fourth start in the Premier League this season, but he failed to prove he is worth more chances in Klopp’s starting eleven.
Fans took to Twitter to discuss his performance…
Seething about that derby result. So unnecessary. Why do liverpool constantly keep faith with squad players who absolutely arent good enough? Ings is AWFUL. Solanke league 1 standard at best. Top four in the balance now IMO#EVELIV #LFC

Solanke is possibly the worst striker I’ve seen play for club, the lad is absolutely useless, and don’t be throwing this potential crap at me he couldn’t trap a bag of cement, Ngog>Solanke, Ngog offered more, Solanke will be lucky to end up in the championship👍

Back from the derby, decent draw in the end considering the circumstances. Thought Gini and Milner played well, Ings and Solanke worked hard but lacked any quality. Onto Tuesday now 🙏 #LFC

i said before the game it was a big chance for solanke, don't think he took it imo, ings also, massive drop in quality when just 1 places in place of either front 3.
gone in the summer and replace #LFC #EVELIV #Lemar

Unpopular opinion but Danny Ings and Dom Solanke aren’t good enough for Liverpool #LFC

Any striker other than Solanke and we would have won the game #LFC

Solanke's first touch is so awful,i personally think he's not smart enough to succeed at #LFC

After January it was clear that Solanke and Ings are not enough to back up Firmino, Salah and Mané. Did a decent job for the team today but definitely a position that needs strengthening in the summer #LFC
