Liverpool fans have found yet another reason to adore Virgil van Dijk, after the Dutch defender said he loves playing for the club.

Liverpool will try to crown themselves champions of Europe for the sixth time on Saturday, and it’s hard to imagine a world where they make the final without Virgil van Dijk.

The towering Dutchman certainly hasn’t been the only factor in guiding the Reds to the final, but his calming influence seems to have completely transformed the entire attitude around the Liverpool back line.

The 26 year-old, who averages an incredible 7.6 clearances and 1.8 interceptions per game in his five Champions League starts, has been showing the love for his new home ahead of Saturday’s clash of the titans.

"I think from day one that the lads, the managers, the staff and the people have made me so welcome. That helps a lot,” van Dijk said.

“The results help as well. Liverpool is my team and Anfield is my home and I love playing for this club."

It’s every fan base’s dream to have players that care about their club as much as they do, and Jürgen Klopp seems to have cultivated exactly that sort of passion through his squad this season.

Van Dijk will have a huge part to play for the Reds on Saturday, and by the sounds of it he’ll have a huge part to play for years to come.
