Liverpool fans loved Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s contribution vs City

Liverpool have reached the UEFA Champions League semi-finals for the first time in a decade after a 2-1 win away to Manchester City on Tuesday night.

Comfortably 3-0 up on aggregate from the first leg, it threatened to be a difficult night for the Reds when Gabriel Jesus netted less than two minutes into the match, but two second half goals from Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino ensured progress.

While those goal heroes will steal the headlines, Liverpool fans were quick to praise a less obvious performer after the match – midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

The former Arsenal man gave the Reds great stability in the middle of the park and supporters can’t believe how good his progress has been at the club since being signed by Jurgen Klopp last summer.

At the Gunners he was often overlooked and didn’t appear to possess the leadership qualities he is currently showing at Anfield, with some fans believing he is a future captain.

Fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on his City performance…
