Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet was public enemy number one earlier in the season due to his poor performances on the pitch.
Since becoming number one goalkeeper at Anfield following his arrival from Sunderland in 2013, the Belgian has failed to establish himself as a world-class stopper.
In fact, the 30-year-old has been roundly mocked on occasion for his outings in between the sticks.
Once 2018 rolled around, manager Jurgen Klopp decided to make a change and promote Loris Karius to the number one role.
Since then, Mignolet has made just one appearance, with the majority of his time being spent on the bench.
Karius has also had his faults, but as the season has progressed, the German has appeared more confident in goal.
In his last 10 outings in all competitions for Liverpool, the 24-year-old has kept six clean sheets, including Wednesday night’s 3-0 victory for the Reds over Manchester City in the first leg of their quarter-final tie.
Even though Mignolet did not play a part, the Belgian tweeted his joy, and was surprisingly met with praise from fans, some of whom are keen for him to get another chance.
Mignolet love your spirit. You could be pessimistic about Liverpool since you were dropped but you seem to be filled with optimism .
