Harvey Elliott has only been at Liverpool for a matter of weeks but he has been drafted into their 29-man squad for the Champions League, much to the delight of the fans.

Even more remarkable is the fact he is only 16 years of age, so if he does feature in group stage matches against Napoli, Red Bull Salzburg and KRC Genk, then he would become one of the youngest players to feature in the Champions League.

The former Fulham man currently holds the record for the youngest player to appear in the Premier League after featuring for the Cottagers in May, and it appears Jurgen Klopp also thinks he may be ready for the senior stage.

By comparison, Trent Alexander-Arnold was the youngest member of the squad to be included last year - he was 19 at the time of the announcement - but he was already an established first-team player.

That shows what a great achievement it is for Elliott, and highlights the impression he has already made at Anfield despite his youth and limited time there.

Here are the reactions from some excited Liverpool fans to the news.
