Liverpool fans poke fun at Everton with cheeky banner

Liverpool fans poked fun at their rivals Everton during the Merseyside Derby on Monday night.

It was a banner from the away end that caught the eye of the Toffees faithful, as Liverpool fans held aloft a flag which read ‘Happy 21st’ – a cheeky dig at the fact it’s been 21 years since Everton last won a trophy.

The Toffees’ last piece of silverware was the 1995 FA Cup, when they beat Manchester United by one goal to nil.

In the same time period, Liverpool have won two FA Cups, a UEFA Cup, four League Cups, two European Super Cups, two Community Shields and of course THAT Champions League in 2005.

The Liverpool faithful obviously thought it would be highly amusing to poke fun at their rivals’ lack of silverware over the past two decade, with plenty of travelling Reds having balloons to mark the historic occasion.

I hope someone baked a cake…
