Liverpool fans lavish praise on Pedro Chirivella after FA Cup win

A number of Liverpool fans took to social media after Tuesday’s 1-0 win over Shrewsbury Town to lavish praise on Spanish midfielder Pedro Chirivella.

The 22-year-old was handed his sixth first-team appearance of the 2019/20 campaign with the club’s senior squad on the Premier League’s first-ever winter break.

First-team boss Jurgen Klopp was not present whilst 22 senior players were unavailable, but the Reds progressed to the fifth round of the FA Cup courtesy of a 1-0 win.

Chirivella played the full 90 minutes for the European champions, and a whole host of Liverpool fans were delighted with what they saw from the Spaniard.

Indeed, Chirivella, who has only made one Premier League appearance for the Reds, will see his current deal at Anfield expire this summer.

Another fan branded the Spaniard the “new Xabi Alonso”, although it remains to be seen whether he does indeed stay at Anfield.

Last month, Sky Sports News claimed that the Reds were still considering handing Chirivella a new deal but there has been no update since.
