Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is on the verge of joining West Bromwich Albion on loan until the end of the season, but Reds boss Jurgen Klopp has hinted that they are unlikely to replace him and their fans have been quick to have their say on the development.
The Telegraph reported on Monday that the Baggies had won the race to sign the out of favour on a temporary basis, but Klopp confirmed in his pre-match press conference that the Merseyside outfit are unlikely to make any further January additions.
JK: We have to use our players. Long-term we will do a lot (in the transfer window). In the short-term, I don't think we will do a lot.

The Reds have only brought Virgil van Dijk to Anfield this summer and despite losing Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona and now seeing Sturridge go out, it doesn’t look as though any attacking reinforcements will be forthcoming.
Liverpool supporters took to social media to have their say on the latest transfer update, and while one said the decision was “baffling”, another said “it’s 1 step forward and 3 steps back with Klopp”.
Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
How any #LFC fan can defend the club/owners/manager if we don't replace Phil & Sturridge is beyond me. They are putting this season at major risk.

Sold coutinho and bought no one even to remotely replace him is a joke after been a bad week for the pool but leaving sturridge go and him being out most out and out striker is baffling solanke and ings don’t cut the mustard and that’s a fact

Surely if Sturridge is going we are replacing him? Surely we can’t not replace him and Coutinho when we already have a smallish squad! Come on!

Letting Coutinho go and Sturridge without even attempting to replace them is shocking. The fact both are leaving I don’t mind. I just assumed there were replacements lined up. There aren’t, which is shocking

we lose Sturridge and will replace him with nobody, not very happy with today’s events😒

It's 1 step forward and 3 steps back with Klopp he's too stubborn how can you sell our best player and not replace him and now potentially send sturridge on loan…Danny ings could potentially be our first choice striker if firmino is injured Lool banter of a club #LFC

It's almost like Liverpool try to make things difficult on purpose, lose Coutinho & looks like Sturridge is off too & we don't replace either of them 😒 proper questionable mentality that

I’d really hope we are stupid enough to let Coutinho and Sturridge leave and not replace either of them. That was be moronic. Our midfield is so light weight. Qualification for next seasons CL hinges on what we do before the transfer window closes.

Klopp taking a massive gamble with his own job never mind Liverpools season. With coutinho sold for 142m and sturridge off the wage bill (120k a week) we now have Ings as back up to Firmino. His stubbornness to invest in the players needed will cost him ans us. Unbelievable #LFC
