On loan Liverpool star Daniel Sturridge has suffered yet another injury setback after being substituted just three minutes into West Bromwich Albion’s clash with Chelsea on Monday night.
The 28-year-old limped off with a suspected hamstring injury that Baggies boss Alan Pardew reckons could keep him out for three weeks.
It’s a massive blow to both the player, who is looking to revive his career after moving on loan in January, and the club, who are fighting for their Premier League survival and need all their players fit and ready to fight for points.
According to injury tracking website PhysioRoom.com, it’s the 31st time that the striker has been injured since 2013 when he joined Liverpool, a huge number by any standard.
Unsurprisingly, Liverpool fans have reacted strongly to the latest injury, many feeling upset for the player himself and others drawing the conclusion that the Reds need to get rid of him completely.
They took to Twitter to share their thoughts…
What a sad waste of talent Danie Sturridge is, a pleasure to see him play at his best.
Those days are dwindling to memory now. At least his legs are going on someone else’s pitch. #LFC

The only reason Sturridge is considered a good striker is because Suarez did all the running for him THAT season. Decent finisher but has never had enough quality. Also, with 31 different injuries in 5 seasons, just tells you that the man just doesn’t take care of himself. #LFC pic.twitter.com/3eMCJhRV0P

#LFC lucky enough to have met the squad 10 times over last 4-5 years, never met sturridge cos he’s never fit or travelled. Sadly time to go

„A fit Daniel Sturridge would give us a 2nd option which we need to compete“ First of all, he is never fit. Secondly, even being available is a challenge for him #LFC

Feel for Sturridge. But #LFC simply have to offload because of these injury issues. It’s kind of like an Owen Hargreaves situation ?
