According to reports in The Guardian, Everton have agreed a £25m deal to sign Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun during the January transfer window, and fans of arch-rivals Liverpool have been quick to have their say on the rumour.
The Toffees finally look to be getting their direct Romelu Lukaku replacement having failed to do so in the summer, with the 26-year-old scoring 13 goals in 23 games in all competition for the Turkish club this season.
The story comes on the back of the Reds announcing on Wednesday that they had signed Southampton defender Virgil van Dijk in a £75m deal, with both clubs seemingly looking to get their business done early.
Liverpool supporters took to social media to give their thoughts on their local neighbours signing Tosun, and while one said “he’s a good bloody signing”, another was less impressed as he “thought Big Sam was signing Aubameyang” having been linked with a move for the Borussia Dortmund striker earlier this month.
Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…

We target Van Dijk and end up with Van Dijk. Everton target Simeone and Aubameyang and end up with Allardyce and Tosun. Levels.

Doing well for besiktas scoring their goals in the CL. Surprised he's agreed to leave considering Everton aren't in Europe at all…
