Some Liverpool fans have been reacting on social media after the Reds shared that Fabinho had been chosen as the supporters' Man of the Match against Manchester City.

The Brazilian was elected as the Reds' Man of the Match after earning 66% of the votes in a poll carried out on Liverpool's official Twitter account, beating the likes of Georginio Wijnaldum (13%), Trent Alexander-Arnold (12%) and Sadio Mane (9%).

Fans have been lauding Fabinho for his performance against Manchester City, in which he demonstrated himself as the "best defensive midfielder in world football", in the eyes of one supporter.

Others suggested he was "absolutely immense" versus the reigning Premier League champions, who Fabinho opened the scoring against in the sixth minute when he blasted the ball home from 25 yards out.

Fabinho struck the ball as sweetly as he could after Ilkay Gundogan's clearance could only find the 26-year-old, who took one touch before lashing his strike home beyond Claudio Bravo.

The £100,000-per-week anchorman coupled his goal with a further shot but failed to direct his effort on target, as he played 36 passes, made one accurate long ball, and completed one dribble, per data collected by WhoScored.

Campinas-born Fabinho also recorded a joint-game-high two interceptions while winning one tackle.

Here are some of the messages shared as supporters reacted to the news that Fabinho had won the fans' vote on who should be named as the Man of the Match from Sunday's 3-1 win over Manchester City…
