Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react following Liverpool Echo reporter James Pearce‘s latest report, in which he reveals that boss Jurgen Klopp is considering a switch to a three-man defence to contend with injury issues at the back.
The Reds are currently missing Joe Gomez, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joel Matip through injury, and have even had to deploy James Milner at right-back recently; when the former Leeds man picked up an injury himself, forgotten man Nathaniel Clyne made his first appearance of the season to cover for him.
Interestingly, the report also reveals that Brazilian centre-midfielder Fabinho is on standby if Klopp needs him to play at the back, as the league leaders have just Dejan Lovren and Virgil van Dijk as their only fit centre-backs.
Fellow top-six side Arsenal have already had to revert to a three-at-the-back system this season, and Klopp may be about to follow suit.
Let’s see how Liverpool fans reacted to the news…
Why did we let our best ever CB go in the summer… pic.twitter.com/e91EyFpREE

Can we just stick with what’s working and go with a back 4 with Robbo, Virgil, Lovren and Clyne

Clyne, Van Dijk, Fabinho should be our back 3 if it’s serious

Running out of CBs…so move to a formation that requires an extra CB,

Can’t wait till Gomez is back him and VVD were imperious.

Why go to a back 3 when we have a lack of centre backs but depth in midfield/attack? That doesn’t make any sense at face value.
