Having moved from Premier League rivals Manchester City to join Liverpool back in the summer of 2015, James Milner has well and truly established himself as part of the Anfield furniture.
The versatile midfielder has been used in a number of positions in his Reds career and was a vital part of the Merseyside club’s success in the Champions League last season.
The 33-year-old has entered the final year of his contract at Anfield though, and according to The Liverpool Echo, Jurgen Klopp’s side are keen to reward him with a fresh new deal.

After hearing the news Milner’s long-term future could be to remain at Liverpool, many fans took to Twitter to voice their opinion on the matter.
Some Reds supporters felt that the midfielder’s performances for the club absolutely warranted him being given a new deal and urged the club to get it done.
Indeed, some felt that his personality off the pitch was a major added bonus to the side and that as a “model professional”, he would have the right influence on some of the other players in the squad.

He’s the ultimate professional. Fittest player at the club, a model pro for the youngsters to look up too. And leader on and off the pitch, I’d love to have him retire at our club and have him a back room staff. Give him any contract he wants.

This is not even worth debating. He’s done a brilliant job for Klopp and 100% deserves a new deal. He’s a vital cog in the #LFC wheel. Get him signed up for as long as he’s willing to sign. Irreplaceable!

Cannot see any downside to having him stay longer. Model professional, still one of the fittest and most dedicated member of the squad. Experienced, someone for the kids to look up to. Versatile, can play in a number of positions. Never less than a solid 7 out of 10. Penalty king

It’s a no brainer – the man is a machine and we need his vast experience to guide younger players.
