Liverpool fans react to Ryan Kent blaming the club for his slow development

Rangers winger Ryan Kent has blamed Liverpool’s training regimes for the slow start to his professional career, during an interview with Rangers TV, via Empire of the Kop.

Kent, 22, graduated from Liverpool’s Melwood Training Complex but failed to get a run in the Liverpool team and was eventually sold to Rangers for £7m during the summer.

The Oldham-born forward only made one outing for the Reds which was during an FA Cup tie against Exeter City in 2016.

The youngster spent last season on loan at Ibrox before making the move permanent and made a good impression under manager Steven Gerrard, with six goals in 23 appearances.

Despite Liverpool being one of the fittest teams around, Kent took the opportunity to bash his former employers because of what he was asked to do in training with the Reds.

During an interview with Rangers TV, via Empire of the Kop, he said: “The training programme I had prior to coming here didn’t really stand me in good stead for coming back playing again.

“But with the physio and fitness coaches I have now, I feel like I’ve got myself back up to a good level of fitness and the right fitness for game time.”

Supporters did not take kindly to Kent’s comments and made their feelings clear about the ex-Reds’ winger on social media.
