Liverpool fans on Twitter have been getting worked up after Ryan Shawcross reminisced about Stoke's famous win over Liverpool in 2015.

Shawcross claimed that the 6-1 victory over Liverpool on the final day of the 2014/15 season was the greatest moment of his career.

"Stoke City 6 Liverpool 1, We were 5 up at half-time and when we went back to the dressing room nobody said a word, we just burst out laughing" Shawcross said.

The result was the Reds' biggest ever Premier League defeat, and to rub salt into the wounds it was the final game Steven Gerrard ever played for the club.

Misery was piled on Liverpool as two of their former players netted against them that day with Charlie Adam scoring to make it 5-0 and Peter Crouch rounding off the day with Stoke's sixth.

Stoke's jubilation was juxtaposed by Liverpool's humiliation and certain sections of the Merseyside club's fanbase still aren't over their worst result in Premier League history.

Since then Stoke have been relegated to the Championship, something Liverpool fans were quick to remind the 31-year-old of after his comments, while one brought up the former Old Trafford academy product's ties with Manchester United - hinting that the rivalry played a part in his swipe at the Reds.
