Liverpool fans react to the Club World Cup squad announcement

Liverpool have a very busy December ahead of them.

Before the end of the calendar year, they will play at least seven games – that could be eight if they win their Club World Cup semi-final as well – and they will even need to play two matches in 24 hours, with the semi-final of the League Cup coming the day before that first match in Qatar.

Can Liverpool's U23s beat Aston Villa in the League Cup?

It has already been confirmed that Jurgen Klopp will be taking care of the team in the Middle East, with U23 boss Neil Critchley to take over for the domestic match against the Villans.

Now, the squad that will travel to the intercontinental competition has been confirmed, and it has been revealed that every senior member of the first-team squad will be making the trip, as well as some younger faces as well.

Whilst this means that the 52-year-old is taking that tournament very seriously, it has got many fans worried about who will appear against Dean Smith’s side.

Several believe it gives them a chance of appearing.

Fortunately, it won’t come to that, but it is understandable that fans are worried as to who might play. It looks as though the whole youth team will feature, and it will be a baptism of fire for them in a cup semi-final against a Premier League club.

They are lacking experience, of course, so some fans are suggesting an alternative route.

They certainly have the talent, but it is hard to see those former players lasting 90 minutes. Some probably wouldn’t even last nine!!

On a more serious note, several fans are rather aggrieved that star academy players such as Curtis Jones and Harvey Elliott are traveling to Qatar, as they would clearly like to see them face Villa.

They do raise a good argument. It is hard to see those players getting on to the pitch with the whole senior squad to compete with. Surely actual on the field action would be worth more to them?

Can you name the result these iconic Liverpool images belong to? Give it a go now…

What result does this iconic Liverpool image belong to?

It doesn’t matter now anyway. It remains to be seen whether the Reds can pull off a remarkable victory against Villa.

In other news, one fact of Liverpool’s Everton performance will have pleased Jurgen Klopp.
