Jadon Sancho is one of the most exciting young players on the planet at the moment.

He recently finished second in the race for the Golden Boy award behind Atletico Madrid's Joao Felix. After racking up 12 goals and 14 assists in the Bundesliga last term, he already has five and six respectively in this campaign as well. Currently valued at £90m by Transfermarkt, he has the world at his feet at the tender age of 19.

Liverpool have been linked with him in recent weeks, and now, former Premier League player Jan Aage Fjortoft has said that, according to his sources, the Anfield outfit lead the way for the England international.

This has got the club's fans talking. Giving the hype surrounding the youngster, many are excited to hear this fresh news in regards to the teenager, and they seem desperate to see him move to Merseyside.

It is hard to argue that he would be a fantastic signing on paper. He was named in the Bundesliga Team of the Year last time out, and already has 11 caps for his country even at his age. There is a reason why the likes of Real Madrid have also been linked with a move for him.

However, Jurgen Klopp does already have three top quality forwards at his disposal in Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino. Surely one of those would have to make way to fit the young winger in to the team? Would he be anything other than a rotation option?

That appears to be what several of the club's fans are asking.

Indeed, last season the three scored 68 goals between them all in competitions as the Reds picked up 97 points in the Premier League and won the Champions League. They don't seem to be crying out for another option going forward as it stands.

Some supporters would even rather see other big-name wingers come in instead of the youngster, such as Son Heung-min, who The Athletic's James Pearce said any reported interest in was "just a rumour" last month, and even Kylian Mbappe who is a striker but can play on the flank.

The South Korea international and PSG man are both quality footballers in their own right as well and have appeared at World Cups. They have participated in the biggest matches in the sport, with the former appearing in the Champions League final last term and the latter scoring in the World Cup showpiece in Russia.

Sancho, of course, can't compete with their experience as of yet, but he is clearly already a top talent. It remains to be seen whether Fjortoft's sources are correct, anyway.
