According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool have rejected a loan offer from Roma for Switzerland international Xherdan Shaqiri.

The 28-year-old has only made six Premier League appearances during the 2019/20 campaign having struggled with a number of injury problems.

That said, there is no question that he is down the pecking order at Anfield.

Indeed, Shaqiri only played 11 minutes of Premier League football in Liverpool's first six matches of the season despite being available.

Head coach Jurgen Klopp has reportedly said no to a loan switch, though, and a lot of Liverpool supporters believe that the German has made the right call.

Call yourself a Liverpool expert? How much did each of these big-money January signings cost?

Not all of the Liverpool supporters are in agreement, though, when considering that Shaqiri has largely struggled for regular action since arriving from Stoke City in 2018.

Other fans claimed that the Swiss is not actually valued by Klopp but will likely stay at Anfield due to Liverpool's perceived lack of squad depth.

Whatever the season for Liverpool reportedly turning down the offer, it does appear that Shaqiri will not be allowed to leave in the middle of the campaign.

And with Liverpool fighting on three fronts in the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup, the news does not come as much of a surprise.

Meanwhile, a number of the Merseyside club's fans have been offering their views on the future of another of their first-team players.
