A few weeks ago, everything was rosy in Liverpool’s garden as they were flying in the Premier League and charging towards the Champions League final.
The club remain in contention for European glory as they are due to take on Real Madrid in the final on May 26 in Kiev.
If Jurgen Klopp’s men take the trophy, then it will be a hugely successful season, but they are two defeats away from having a horror campaign.
The Reds seemed comfortable in the race for top four, but after failing to strike against Stoke City and then losing 1-0 to Chelsea on Sunday, the club’s hopes rest on the final day of the campaign when they take on Brighton at Anfield.
Klopp’s men need to win the contest in order to qualify for next season’s Champions League, but if they miss out they can still grab a place if they defeat Madrid in Ukraine.
Performance-wise, Liverpool have looked lacklustre in recent matches, and the same can certainly be said for the clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
After the final whistle JOE.co.uk journalist Melissa Reddy made a point of mentioning the growing injury problems.
Emre Can, Adam Lallana, Joel Matip, Joe Gomez and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are among the players on the treatment table.
Plenty of Liverpool fans, though, are not prepared to use injuries as an excuse.
Every team has injury issues, Klopp was raising issues about squad depth April 17, yet come the Summer we only signed 4 with the same number going out, we have no attackers injured, Salah Mane and Firmino have been played to death, Solanke as no 2 striker isn’t acceptable

I do think that’s somewhat true, but it’s too easy of an excuse to use. The reality is if you sit people behind that ball and concede possession against us, you have us in big trouble. Our front three thrive on the break and we don’t have a midfielder with a killer ball

Melissa…….lets not be making excuses here now….end of the day we got what we deserved for a poor display…if you want to play the fatigue card go ahead but its incredible that we are now having to go to the last game.

Devils advocate.Knowing side planning 4 success needs a robust squad isn’t a https://t.co/5s4xZvQ4uf other news manager and owners can purchase players.

Stop making excuses Melissa Reddy, we were good enough. If Mane puts away either of the chances he had 1st half,we win the game. But as Liverpool we have this tendency to leave everything to the last moment, need to put in a good performance and win against Brighton

Weak excuses it shud have been wrapped up by now

Please stop making excuses on behalf of the team . We should have rounded up top 4. Three games ago . This is appalling ..

That's not even that big an injury list. United have an injury list that long at all times but are still able to put out a decent 11 at almost all times.
