Liverpool fans refusing to get sucked into Neves hype

When the transfer window rolls around, rumours come flying out of every corner, and some of them are rather outlandish.

It is safe to say that plenty of eyes will be on Wolverhampton Wanderers star Ruben Neves following his stunning season, but speculation linking him to Liverpool has been approached with caution from the fans.

On Monday, Anfield HQ founder Oliver Bond tweeted that the Championship winner had touched down in Merseyside.

Not a huge amount of information was added to that tweet, but another account – Anfield Express – posted a screengrab of an Instagram story posted by Neves’s sister Vanessa.

The more unlikely the story the more likely it is that said player is rumoured to have arrived in a particular airport, but there is apparently evidence that members of the Neves clan were recently in Liverpool.

Of course, that does not automatically mean that the 21-year-old is going to be one of Jurgen Klopp’s summer signings, but perhaps the story is one to keep an eye on.

Neves has been one of the most eye-catching players in the second tier having helped Wolves earn Premier League promotion and win the Championship from the centre of midfield.

The Portuguese star has also scored six goals and created an assist in the league campaign.

These latest rumours, though, have not got every Liverpool fan convinced.
